Dr. Geof Tidey

Dr. Tidey is subspecialty board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Richmond Academy of Medicine.

Fertility Specialist

Dr. Tidey currently serves as the Medical Director of the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center which he co-founded in 1998. Since its inception, the Center has maintained its status as one of the country’s most successful IVF facilities. Dr. Tidey developed and directs the area’s first anonymous oocyte donation program, and he is responsible for the first frozen oocyte pregnancy in central Virginia. Dr. Tidey specializes in the medical and surgical management of infertility and reproductive endocrinology including IVF, ICSI, PGD, robotic tubal reversal, and minimally invasive surgical treatment of fibroids, adhesions, endometriosis, and uterine abnormalities.

Education Background

An Echols Scholar and distinguished graduate of the University of Virginia, Dr. Tidey went on to obtain his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He currently serves as a Clinical Professor in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at MCV. Before completing a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the George Washington University and conducting research at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Tidey trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Maryland.

Before returning to Richmond, Dr. Tidey held a professorial role at the University of Texas where he authored numerous papers, abstracts and book chapters. He lectured extensively on topics related to infertility and reproductive endocrinology and ultimately received UT’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Tidey has served as a Medical Advisor and Administrative Judge for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and has appeared on CBS and NBC in programs discussing in vitro fertilization and infertility. Dr. Tidey was also selected for Richmond Magazine’s “Top Docs” survey for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In his leisure time, Dr. Tidey enjoys golf, squash, snow skiing, cooking, reading, and traveling with his wife and two sons.
